Well today has been our last full day at Kingswood and once again, it's been jam-packed full of exciting sessions! Today has seen a mix of adrenalin packed activities such as the 3G Giant Swing and more team based ones, such as the 'marble motion', where the children had to create a device to move a marble as far as possible!

The Giant Swing has definitely been the firm favourite thus far though- the children paired up and were attached in their harnesses to a metal frame (the swing). It was then up to their peers to pull the swing up as high as they could. When at the top, one of the pair had to be brave enough to pull a cord that sent the swing plummeting downwards! (I managed to have a go too, and it seriously takes your breath away!).

Other activities today have included archery, abseiling and team-tech (which was a building activity). This evening, we took a splash for the pool party, where we all enjoyed playing with the equipment and the various challenges that were set to us.

Although the children have had a magnificent time, they are all looking forward to coming home tomorrow to see you all! We're sure they'll be eager to tell you all about their adventures!

See you all soon,

Mr Kelly

Today has involved quite a few 'high-up' activities, which has been quite exhilarating for the children (and ensured a lot of bravery has been shown!). From 'Jacob's Ladder' to the 'Leap of Faith', our pupils have impressed throughout the day!

It wasn't all heights today though, as the quad biking and circus skills sessions were also very well received by the pupils. The sun has been shining all day too, so it's been a bright day all round! This evening, everyone expended loads of energy during the 'mini-Olympics' session, where the Kingswood staff organised a huge range of different fun (and tiring) activities that encouraged the children to work in teams. (Our pool party is now on Thursday evening, so the children still have that to look forward to).

Tomorrow, the children are looking forward to the 3G Giant Swing, which is literally a giant swing that hoists the children up and then takes their breath away as they swing at speed back down again! (It was a firm favourite last year!).

All the children are continuing to impress with their enthusiasm and positive behaviour and are a pleasure to be with!

A full day's worth of activities today has seen the children ready for their beds tonight! Some of the highlights today have been the 'jungle vines' where the children had to climb 20ft up a pole and then balance across a beam to the other side; the indoor laser tag, where the children had to work in teams to 'zap' the opposition; and the 'scrapheap challenge', which saw the children creating a contraption that would protect a water balloon when dropped from high in the air!

The children's group leader, Ross, is very impressed with the children's behaviour so far and we were surprised to learn today that he's from Luton himself! He has led lots of the activities the children have taken part in and has enjoyed spending time with them.

Tomorrow, we have activities such as 'leap of faith', quad biking and the pool party to look forward too...I'm sure the children will continue having a fantastic time!

Take care,

Mr Kelly

Monday 23 June 2014

Hi everyone- our first day has been great! (And I'm extra pleased as my room has WI-FI so I don't have to traipse around the site trying to pick up a signal!!).

The children have had their tour of the site and settled into their rooms. Most are now falling asleep in their rooms and will hopefully have a long night's sleep!

This evening one group took part in fencing whilst the other 2 groups went on the indoor climbing wall. Both groups had a fantastic time before then heading off to the camp-fire, where they sang and danced along with loads of camp-fire 'classics!'

The dinner was "the best I've ever had" as described by one person (tonight's options were peri-peri chicken, macaroni cheese or sweet and sour pork- some very popular options!). And we wished a big "happy birthday" to Xander who shared his birthday cake with everyone!

Tomorrow, we have a huge range of activities, including indoor laser tag, jungle vines and night-line to name just a few!
